NAPPANEE - Hazel L. Swihart, 89, of 803 Northwood Circle, Nappanee, died at 8:15 a.m. March 1, 2007, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1917, in LaPaz, to Fred and Myrtle Zentz Thomas. On Jan. 25, 1941, in Wauseon, Ohio, she married Leroy Glen Swihart, who died Aug. 9, 1967.
A Nappanee resident since 1941, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jan (Gloria) Cleveland, Nappanee; four sons, Fred, Lewis and Jerry Swihart, all of Nappanee, and James Swihart, Wakarusa; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a great-grandson, two brothers and five sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Nappanee Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Paul Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to services at the church.
