Harvest With A Heart Open

MILFORD - Harvest With A Heart in Milford is looking to both provide fresh produce for the community and donate to charities.

It is at the corner of Emeline Street and Ind. 15 in Milford.

The market will be open on Thursday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon and Saturdays as needed.

Proceeds from the market will go to help fund programs and charities in Milford.

On Aug. 19, the market had more than 1,500 pounds of produce donated and raised $450 for local charities.

Items included tomatoes, cucumbers, winter squash that is just starting to come in, yellow squash, beets and more than 200 pounds of cantaloupe.

At the end of market on Friday, the market only had 78 pounds left, which was donated to Our Father's House.

The market's newest charity it is raising money for is the Makenna VanLaeken Liver Research Fund at Riley Hospital For Children."We are so excited to be in our new building, one that we can grow in and increase our services to the community," said Ann Schlabach of the market. "We are so thankful to the community that has supported this market that is only in its third season - to have grown this big so quickly is truly a testament to the people of Milford, and their desire to reach out a helping hand to those who need it."
