Warsaw Community High School senior Mariah Harter made it official this morning, inking a letter of intent to attend Huntington University and run track for the Foresters. Harter, a four-year letter winner for Warsaw coach Scott Erba, has been a reliable performer for the Lady Tiger program. Harter’s efforts last year not only helped her 4x100 relay team establish a school record, it turned into a state-runner up performance that was the 12th-best time in the history of Indiana girls track. Harter also competes in the 100 and 200 for the Lady Tigers and is hoping to return to Indianapolis this season once again. Last season Harter earned Most Improved for the Lady Tigers, and she credits the Lady Tiger Track & Field program and Coach Erba for preparing her for the challenges of competing at the next level. Her efforts in the classroom, school and community have been noteworthy as well. A member of the Octagon Club, Tiger Student Athletic Board, and National Honor Society, Harter has also served the past five years with Warsaw Community Church where she has functioned as a Small Group Leader. In the classroom, she carries a 10.87 Grade Point Average on a 12-point scale. Planning to major in social work, Harter hopes to attend Huntington for three years and earn a degree while running for coach Tom King. The Foresters compete in the NAIA and the Crossroads Conference.
