SYRACUSE – Harry D. Shriver, 79, Syracuse, passed away June 25, 2012, at IU Goshen Hospital.

He was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Miami County, to Chester and Esther Swears Shriver. He married Patricia, who survives in Syracuse.

He has been a resident of Syracuse since 1977. He served his country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Korea. He was a manufacturing engineer and retired from Freudenbrg MFG in 1998. He also was the past Exalted Ruler of the Ligonier Elks Lodge.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dena (and spouse David) Canmann, Highland Park, Ill.; a son, Jeffrey (and spouse Ginger) Shriver, Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Susan Hire, Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Barbara Coppeck, Cheryl Smith, Virginia Ruth Davis; two brothers: Milo and Jack Shriver. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Shriver.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, with military honors at 2 p.m. Private burial will follow at the Akron Cemetery.
