Harrison Students Raise $540

Posted

Harrison Elementary second-graders spent their recess time selling lemonade to other students for 25 cents a cup. Theses second-graders raised $540 in four days. With some guidance from their teachers, Deb McClintock, Pam Brail, Deb Wiley and Callie DiRico, the students chose to donate the money to the CureJM foundation. Juvenile Myositis is an autoimmune disease causing vasculitis that manifests itself in children. Local girl Katherine Alderfer has been affected by this disease. Katherine made a guest appearance to Harrison Elementary to answer some questions asked by the second-graders regarding the disease. Pictured handing Alderfer the check are (L to R): Lakisha Prater, Alan Alderfer, Katherine Alderfer, Kristine Alderfer, Kaylee Denney and Tommy Slocum. Donations can be made at www.curejm.com
