SYRACUSE - Harrison Paul Fidler, 14, of Syracuse, died at 1:37 p.m. Jan. 31, 2009, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, of meningococcal bacterial meningitis.

He was born June 19, 1994, in Syracuse, to James and Denise Shavinski Fidler, who survive.

A lifetime area resident, he was an 8th-grader at Wawasee Middle School, where he was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was homeschooled. He attended Vineyard Community Church, Syracuse, and was active in North Webster Church of God Youth Group. He enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, soccer, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX biking, wakeboarding, swimming and traveling. He also looked forward to the SOS Missions trip with Vineyard Church. He enjoyed spending time at the North Webster Community Youth Center and humor and loved to make people laugh.

Also surviving are siblings, Karrah, 19; Seth, 16; Makayla, 10; and Tressa, 7; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Mary Shavinski, Port Austin, Mich.; and paternal grandparents, Phil and Barbara Fidler, Leesburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Webster Church of God with Pastor Kent Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Shock Cemetery, North Webster.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse.
