Harrison “Harry” F. Bornmann III, 83, formerly of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at 12:49 a.m. March 29, 2015, in Lutheran Medical Center, Wheat Ridge, Colo., after battling the progression of Parkinson’s for the past several years. He was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Lehighton, Pa., to Harrison F. II and Edna Mae Walck Bornmann. On Dec. 22, 1951, in her parents’ home, he married Eleanor Elaine Creighton, who survives in Wheat Ridge. After his mother’s passing, he was raised by his grandmother, Maude, and then by his father and stepmother, Anna Rex Bornmann. He was eventually joined in the Bedford, Pa., area by six siblings: Patricia, Richard, Julia, Rex, Nancy and Susan. A proud graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, he served in the Army Signal Corps, stationed in Germany. He was self-employed as a poultry farmer in the Palestine area following his honorable discharge from the Army. After relocating to Colorado, he eventually retired from the QA department at Coors Brewery and then from Home Depot. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home to visit family and friends. A hard worker, he loved his family, loved to fish, take photographs, and he could fix anything. He and Elaine enjoyed over 63 years together and raised three children. Also surviving are Gail (and spouse Ron) Buhr, Warsaw; David (and spouse Jenny) Bornmann, Valparaiso; and Lisabeth (and spouse Dave) Huyck, Arvada, Colo. eight grandchildren with whom they were further blessed: Travis (and spouse Amanda) Shively, Etna Green; Trenton (and spouse Nicole) Shively, Warsaw; Ashley (and spouse Kyle) Zender, Coos Bay, Ore.; Leslie (and spouse Matthew) Willingham and Lindsey Bornmann, all of Valparaiso; Lauren (and spouse Josh) Burgan, Greenwood; Leyalle (and spouse David) Harris, Draper, Utah; Erinn Donnelly, Arvada; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Bornmann, Orefield, Pa., and Nancy Piel, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and a brother, Richard Bornmann, Wheat Ridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Susan and Julia; and brother, Rex. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Matthew Willingham officiating. Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Post #49 and VFW #1126, both of Warsaw, and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard are at 9 a.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the cemetery.
