Harold Otto Strange, of Grace

Village Retirement Community in

Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at

5:54 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019,

at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne,

Ind., at the age of 88.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1930, in

Philadelphia, Pa., to Anna Swienty

Strange and Richard Strange. On June

30, 1956, he was married to Doris S.

Scott Strange. They shared 61 years of marriage before

she passed away on May 19, 2018.

Harold graduated with a doctorate, earning his PhD

in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in

1955. He and his wife lived in the Philadelphia area

until 1956 when they moved to Pittsburgh. They were

longtime members of Christ Church at Grove Farm in

Sewickley, Pa. Harold and Doris moved to Winona Lake

in 2014, where they became members of Winona Lake

Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed the friendships

they made there as well as at Grace Village Retirement

Community.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a

friend to many. Harold would most want to be remembered

for his steadfast faith in his Lord and Savior,

Jesus Christ.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Robert

(Debra) Strange, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter,

Barbara (Mark) McCollom, of Warsaw, Ind.; and five

grandchildren, Joseph, Julie, Jenna, Zeb and Drew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his

wife, Doris.

Harold’s life will be celebrated with a memorial

service on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Grace Village

Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive,

Winona Lake, in the Grace Village Chapel and officiated

by Pastor Kip Cone and Chaplain Bryan Benjamin.
