Harold G. Lowery, 93, passed away at 2 a.m. May 31, 2015, at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
He was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Muncie, to Arthur C. and Devona M. Sharpe Lowery. On Dec. 24, 1942, in Springfield, Mo., he married Gladys Dunnuck, who died April 11, 2014.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived most of his life in Warsaw. He was co-owner with his wife of Lowery Sewing Center for 20 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego, and he belonged to and was past president of Independent Sewing Machine Dealers of America. He was a member of Gideon’s International and past president of Warsaw Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda (and spouse Dean) Harman, Leesburg, and Landra (and spouse David) Grant, Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren: Landon (and spouse Kim) Harman, Sharpsburg, Ga.; Britton (and spouse Jodi) Harman, Jocotenango, Guatemala; Adam (and spouse Mindy) Harman, Winona Lake; Amy (and spouse Bubba) Hogan, Bartlett, Tenn.; Jessica (and spouse Roger) Bowman, Deatsville, Ala.; and 18 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Hertling; two brothers, Donald Lowery and an infant brother.
Services will be at noon Friday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, with Pastor Rick Smith, former pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
