NAPPANEE – Harold E. Surface, 93, of Nappanee, died at 6 a.m. May 8, 2012, in his residence.
He was born March 19, 1919, in Grant County, to Freddie and Cecil Cole Surface. On April 5, 1942, in Kokomo, he married Florence Sinnamon, who died Dec. 30, 2009.
He moved to Nappanee from Plymouth in 1981. He was a welder at Studebaker for 23 years and farmed and ran Ann’s Fresh Eggs. Most recently he had driven for the Amish community and hauled livestock for 20 years. He was a member of Mid States Mule Association and was a member of Etna Green Church of Christ.
Surviving are three daughters: Judy Barr, Nappanee; Joyce Churchill, Berger, Mo.; and Jackie (and spouse Randle) Brock, Liberty, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Wimmer, Greentown. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
No services are planned.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with military honors at 4 p.m. by members of Nappanee American Legion. Cremation will follow.
