COLUMBIA CITY – Harold E. Snyder, 84, of Dayton, Ohio, died July 3, 2011, in VA Medical Center, Dayton.

He was born June 22, 1927, in Columbia City, to Otis D.E. and Rosa I. Ebersole Snyder.

He graduated from Larwill High School in 1945. He then joined the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from 1945-47. He was owner and operator of the Standard Gas Station at Lincolnway and Ind. 5.  He also was a farmer. He lived in Ohio for the last 20 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and spouse Chuck) Bandelier, Columbia City, and Brenda (and spouse Denny) McCormick, Bourbon; two sons, Carl Snyder, Nappanee, and John (and spouse Patricia) Snyder, Antwerp, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with Pastor Jamie Stiffler officiating. Burial will be at a later date at South Park Cemetery, Columbia City.  

Calling is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
