NAPPANEE - Harold E. Berger, 93, of 1700 Waterfall Drive, Nappanee, died at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 2, 2008, in Elkhart General Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born March 23, 1914, in Nappanee, to Ervin and Ella Bellman Berger. On March 24, 1940, he married Sarah Ruth Chamberlin, who died Aug. 27, 1977. He married Virginia Reed, who died July 2, 2006.
He was a 1932 Nappanee High School graduate, a retired farmer and attended Nappanee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons: David (and spouse Karen) Berger, Nappanee; Robert (and spouse Maria) Berger, South Bend; and Donald (and spouse Rita) Berger, Wakarusa; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nappanee United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harrold officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
