Harold Dean Heintzelman Sr., 85, of 1711 E. U.S. Highway 930, New Haven, and a former longtime resident of Pierceton, died at 9:50 p.m. April 26, 2012, in Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
He was born March 10, 1927, in Indiana Village, to Joseph Heintzelman and May McDonald Heintzelman.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 0243, Ligonier. He was a longtime resident of Pierceton, where he retired as a truck driver, having worked for many years for Standard Oil Co.
Surviving are son, Harold D. (and spouse Lena) Heintzelman Jr., Pierceton; a daughter, Debra (and spouse Bill) Scott, Evansville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Heintzelman and Harvey (and spouse Pat) Heintzelman, all of Ligonier. He was preceded in death by a son.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Jim Teasedale officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites by members of American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Was 1126, both in Warsaw, and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard.
