COLUMBIA CITY – Harold Dane Waldeck, 81, Larwill, died June 8, 2016, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1935 in Lagrange, to A. Harold and Goldie Mae Anspaugh Waldeck. On Dec. 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Nancy J. Miller, who died July 24, 2004.
They always made their home in Richland Township, moving to their home on Old Trail Road in 1962.
A lifelong resident of Whitley County, he graduated from Larwill High School. On Nov. 29, 1954, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Nov. 28, 1962.
He owned and operated an excavating company for many years. He was a member of Due Guard Lodge #278 Free & Accepted Masons.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Webster, Warsaw, and Linda Littlefield, Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons, Stephen Waldeck, Warsaw, and Randy (and spouse Susan) Waldeck, Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Lou Mogensen, and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery with military honors presented by Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a Masonic service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
