Hargus Howard, 90, died at 4 a.m. Jan. 5, 2011, in Hendry County Medical Center, Clearwater, Fla.

He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Salyersville, Ky., to Kendile and Mary Allen Howard. On Sept. 1, 1942, he married Hattie England, who survives.

He lived most of life in the Silver Lake area, moving to Florida in 2000. He was a machinist for Gripco and a farmer. He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake.

Also surviving are a son, Ralph (and spouse Cindy) Howard, Warsaw; three daughters, Carolyn (and spouse Steve) Lister and Mary Trout, all of Sebring, Fla., and Bonnie Lou (and spouse Jim) Mettler, Brandon, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Howard; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, officiated by Pastor Frank Whitaker of the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
