NAPPANEE – Spencer Hare was second overall as the Wawasee boys cross country team placed second Saturday at the NorthWood Invite.
The?Warriors had a team score of 60, to Concord’s 23 and NorthWood’s 73.
Hare finished the race in 17:15, while Michael Hammer was ninth for Wawasee in 18:29.
The Warriors’ Thomas Conley was 1lth (18:41), Jace Alexander was 17th (19:03), Karlson Hand placed 21st (19:07), Camden Powell was 25th (19:25) and Michael Drabenstott finished 39th (20:14).
Wawasee’s girls team placed third out of five teams at the invite with a team score of 75. NorthWood won the event with a team score of 61, while Concord was second (65), Bremen was fourth (91) and South Bend St. Joseph finished fifth (104).
McKenzie Smith led the?Lady?Warriors (2-1) with a third-place finish in 21:17.
Wawasee’s Emma Ebright had a personal-best time of 22:35 to finish ninth, while 18th-place Bailey Mayhew also had a personal record (23:29) and Ella Beezley was 24th (23:41).
Cammy Kryder had another?personal best for Wawasee, placing 26th in 23:52. Autumn?Turner was 37th for Wawasee in 24:38.
Warsaw Spikers Go 3-1 In Tournament
MISHAWAKA – The?Warsaw volleyball team went 3-1 Saturday at the Mishawaka Volleyball?Tournament.
Warsaw started off the day with a sweep of South Bend St. Joe before losing 2-0 to Carmel.
The Lady Tigers bounced back with a 2-0 win over Northwestern before finishing the day with a 3-1 win over Mishawaka Marian.
Kacy Bragg led the Lady Tigers with five kills, 18 digs and 57 assists, while Kennedy Lauck tallied 14 kills and seven blocks.
Kylie Smith had 26 digs and five aces for the Lady?Tigers.
Manchester Lady Squires Excel At Invite
NORTH?MANCHESTER – The Manchester Lady Squires volleyball team finished second Saturday at their own invite.
Manchester lost to Culver Academies 25-21, 25-16 in the title match.
The?Lady Squires started the day with a win in three games over Tri-Central, and then topped Tippecanoe Valley in three to reach the title match.
Manchester was led by Eva Bazzoni’s 16 kills and 15 digs, while Emma West tallied 28 digs and six aces and Kendra Kline recorded 36 assists and 18 digs.
Wawasee Volleyball Team Splits At Invite
TOPEKA – The Wawasee volleyball team won two matches and lost two more Saturday at the Westview Invitational.
The?Lady Warriors defeated Whitko in two sets before dropping consecutive three-set matches against South Bend Adams and Central Noble.
Wawasee finished the day with a three-set win over Eastside.
Madison Simmons registered 18 kills, 17 digs, 16 kills and five aces on the day for Wawasee, while Elizabeth Kleopfer recorded 43 assists.
Wawasee’s Brooke Heche tallied 38 digs and 43 assists.
Whitko lost to Westview, Eastside and Goshen, each in two games.
Carissa Beck led the?Lady Wildcats with 10 kills, while Kayla Thompson tallied nine kills.
Whitko’s Reese Bradford recorded 30 assists, and Kristina Slater had 30 digs.
Tippecanoe Valley Unbeaten At Tournament
BOURBON?– Tippecanoe Valley went undefeated Saturday to win the Triton JV Volleyball?Tournament.
The Lady Vikings topped Culver 25-9, 25-20, before beating Triton 25-20, 25-15 and Bremen 22-25, 25-18, 15-4.
Triton went 2-1 on the day, with wins coming against Culver (25-19, 25-14) and Bremen (25-19, 25-20).
Wawasee Freshmen Win Back-To-Back Matches
NAPPANEE – Two matches, two wins Saturday for Wawasee’s freshman volleyball team.
The?Lady Warriors (4-0) defeated Concord and NorthWood, each in three games at the?NorthWood Invite.
Wawasee defeated NorthWood in the title match, 21-25, 25-14, 15-12.
Wawsee’s Talia Kuhl recorded five aces and three digs in the title match, while Laney Gross registered seven assists, two kills, two aces and one dig.
Warsaw Golf Comes In 15th At Classic
DE?MOTTE – The Warsaw girls golf team placed 15th out of 18 teams at the Hall of?Fame Classic on Saturday at Sandy Pines Golf Club.
Warsaw had a team score of 390.
Grayson Kilburn shot an 18-hole round of 91 for the Lady Tigers, while Julia Hildebrand scored a 96, Izzy Ray had a 98, Miriam Hagg carded a 105 and Madelyn?Ray posted a 109.
Warsaw will play Concord and Northridge at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bent Oak Golf Course.
Warsaw And Marian Play To Scoreless Draw
MISHAWAKA – Warsaw’s boys team soccer deadlocked in a 0-0 tie Saturday at Mishawaka Marian.
“Our defense and goalie Harrison Mevis kept our team in the game and didn’t allow a goal from our opponent,” Frank Courtois said.
The?Tigers (2-0-2) will host Concord for a match at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Wawasee Wavers Against?West Noble
LIGONIER – The Wawasee boys soccer team blew a 2-0 lead to fall 4-2 Saturday at West Noble.
Wawasee’s Chris Pena and Kenyon?Cotton scored goals.
Dillon Drake was in the net with seven saves for the Warriors (2-3), while Evan Dippon had one save.
Wildcats Struggle Against?Maconoquah
BUNKER?HILL?– The Whitko boys soccer team lost 14-0 Saturday at Maconoquah.
The Braves scored six goals in the first half and eight in the second.
Whitko (0-3) will host Central Noble today at 6 p.m.
Wawasee Lady Warriors Shut Out
SYRACUSE – The?Wawasee girls soccer team was blanked 5-0 Saturday in a home match against Concord.
The match was scoreless at halftime before Concord scored five goals in the second half.
Wawasee (1-4-1) will play at 5 p.m. Thursday at Lakeland Christian.
