Daniel Hampton announced today he will not ask for a recount of votes in the Republican primary election for prosecuting attorney.
Hampton lost the election by 61 votes to Charles Waggoner last Tuesday night.
In a press release, Hampton said he investigated the possibility of a successful recount and studied tally sheets for the election.
"After a completion of these studies, I have a high degree of confidence that the numerical count is accurate and any possibility for margin of error is low," Hampton said in his release.
Hampton had seven days after the May 5 primary to call for a recount.
