Hallie J. Self, 87, Warsaw, passed away at 10:03 p.m. Feb. 11, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born March 19, 1929, to Jessie “Hall” and Viola “Odie” Howerton Self in Hitchita, Okla. He and his wife have lived in Warsaw since 2004. On July 10, 1952, he married Leda Murry in Okmulgee, Okla., and on July 10, 2017, they would have been married 65 years. He honorably served in the artillery in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was employed by Rockwell International as a machinist. He enjoyed NCAA basketball, gardening and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Leda Self, Warsaw; a son, Barry (spouse Cynthia) Self, Warsaw; daughters, Linda (spouse Dwayne), Warsaw, and Shirley (spouse John) Hepler, California; a sister, Joyce (spouse Floyd) Baldridge, Okmulgee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Services will be private. Burial will be in his hometown of Hitchita.
