Hall Of Fame Induction

Posted
Thirteen stock car drivers were inducted into the Hall of Fame Saturday during the intermission of the crate late model races at the Plymouth Motor Speedway, The Playground of Power. The stands were filled with many people, some who traveled hundreds of miles for Saturday’s events. Arnold Prater, Glenn Bradley, Tommy Leiter, Randy Woodling, Shane Denny, Harvey Hayes, John Fitzpatrick, Robert Johnson Jr., Paul Bills, Larry Montel, LC Drabenstott and the late Bob Johnson Sr. and the late Dan Backus were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame organizer Ron Prater said he was happy with the support from the Warsaw community and everyone else who attended Saturday’s events. He said handing out the Hall of Fame plaques to each individual brought back many fond memories with these racers. NASCAR driver Ken Schrader was also present and he won feature race after the Hall of Fame inductees were announced. Schrader said he has been racing in Indiana pretty regularly since the ’70s and has made a lot of friends since then. He said the Midwest feels like home and has many good tracks here. Schrader said meeting different people is one of his favorite parts of racing and his favorite stories are the “ones we can’t tell.” The Hall of Fame for sprint cars will be held in July.
