Editor, Times-Union: This informative note is for parents of incoming kindergarteners for the 2012/2013 school year! Half-day kindergarten is still an option with Warsaw Community schools for the next school year. No decision has been made about what school will host the class next year, but the three schools being considered are Jefferson, Washington and Lincoln.
Please also know that busing is offered. The children can ride their regular bus from home to their home-assigned elementary school and are then met and transferred to a bus that will take them to the school where the half day is offered. Parents of kindergarteners this year who utilize the bussing program have been extremely pleased. I have watchedthe bus driver walk the students into the classroom to make sure they get where they are going. It’s a fantastic system.
My son is in the half-day program this year and I cannot express how grateful I am to have the opportunity to watch him learning and loving school. He will be ready for the long day of first grade, but he has needed this extra year with a shortened school day.
If you feel like your child would be better served attending half-day kindergarten instead of a full eight hour school day, please call Warsaw School Administrator David Hoffert at 574-371-5098. Thanks.
