Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Avis Gunter, commissioner of the southern District of Kosciusko County, has been elected president of the board.
The Silver Lake native is finishing her first term as commissioner and became the first woman elected to the position three years ago.
Gunter was nominated by fellow commissioner Brad Jackson. Gunter had nominated past board president Eddie Creighton, who was absent from Tuesday's meeting, but Jackson reminded Gunter that they had agreed Gunter would succeed Creighton in 1998.
Jackson was chosen to serve as vice president.
