Guns

When Bush first took office in 2000, the anti-gunners knew they would get little or nothing past him so they decided to take their battle to the states. In 2008, 57 new restrictions were proposed in 16 states, 53 of which failed. Only four in New Jersey were passed, which shouldn't surprise anyone.

If there's a more anti-gun state then Illinois it's got to be New Jersey. They supposedly have some sort of permit but it must be terribly restricted. From all I've heard even off-duty police can't carry in New Jersey. Then they can't understand why their crime rate is so high.

The really surprising one was, in fact, Illinois. In 2008, 17 pieces of legislation were proposed and all failed.

Hopefully, Obama will take note of all this and understand the American people want no further infringements on their Second Amendment rights. He at least seems to be a rational man so there is hope.

Sarah Lowe: You would have to hit me with that one, Sarah. The day after it happened I read about it and commented to my daughter how stupid that sort of thing makes the rest of us look. About all I can say is there were two adults, the father and the so-called instructor, that had their heads God only knows where. As my daughter said, the rest of their lives are going to be pretty miserable.
