Guns

Editor, Times-Union:

Citizens of America and fellow gun enthusiasts, I want to invite your attention to a new Senate House Bill "HR 45" proposal concerning gun control that is currently in the works that would prohibit gun ownership whether it be private, importer, manufacture or dealer to include collectors unless licensed through the U.S. Attorney General's office and registered with the database in Washington, D.C.

Some of the bill requirements will include a thumbprint, driver's license, Social Security number and a valid home address. Applicants must be willing to allow governmental access to private mental and physical health records, submit to a firearms examination, certify that all your weapons are safely secured and out of the hands of anyone under the age of 18 to include a $25 processing fee. I would speculate that this particular "House Bill" could possibly be voted on without any advanced news media coverage or public knowledge. What do you think?

But the question that comes to my mind, as it should to yours, is why would government want to establish a gun control policy especially if law-abiding citizens are not breaking the current state and federal gun laws and regulations? Is the real purpose of this bill aimed at the criminal element? Or is its intended purpose designed to remove every gun from every American home? I would venture to say the latter.

Could this be a far-left agenda? Think for a moment. Why would our government want to establish a bill that could and would allow the U.S. Government the legal right to take each and every gun from every American household at any given moment without explanation or reason? Given the current state of our government today, can we afford to take that risk? This reminds me of a gentleman by the name of Adolf Hitler who was a proponent of strong gun control. If you stop and think about it, a disarmed populace is much easier to control than one that is armed. The Second Amendment in our constitution guarantees that every American citizen has the right to bare arms. A guarantee established by our Founding Fathers never to be broken.

In my opinion, "House Bill HR 45" would break that sacred promise. The nation of China is a good example of tyranny that our Founding Fathers were speaking of. The people of China are not allowed to have or own any kind of weapons. Are we the people going to allow the same to happen here in America? Our Congress and Senate leadership needs to hear the voice of the people on this issue before our esteemed Congressional leadership decides to vote on this issue in the secrecy of some dark room in the halls of Congress.
