Editor, Times-Union: Piers Morgan should be exported immediately following his castration. I shudder to think he might produce a progeny. Any properly educated American surely knows that the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States of America offer the only hope of survival of this Constitutional Republic. The instant American citizens are no longer allowed the right of peaceful dissention and personal defense the Republic is doomed. However, as necessary as the Second Amendment is, the laws of man are secondary to the God-given, natural born right of self-preservation. I claim the right to protect family, my acquaintances and myself. I claim the right to defend against all threats, foreign or domestic, human or not human by any and all means available to me. Should some cretin in government office attempt to determine what I may or may not use in the defense of myself and loved ones he or she may as well be blowing smoke. The history of the effects of government gun control is so horrible and predictable as to be beyond debate. It always began with government banning little things like certain magazines followed by universal registration (eliminating private sales of guns) followed by banning certain guns followed by confiscating certain guns followed by confiscating all guns resulting in an all-powerful, onerous government dictating to a nation of defenseless sheep and never, never, never were the results what the people anticipated or wanted. How can anyone be so blind, so ignorant of history, so naive as to believe this time it’s different? There will always be a select group of people who believe themselves more deserving, more intelligent and capable of determining what is best for the rest of us at any cost. We see it every day in Washington. Gregory Smith North Webster, via e-mail
