SYRACUSE – Grover N. Smith Sr., 92, of Greencroft Retirement Community and formerly of Syracuse, died June 29, 2012, in I.U. Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Noble County, to Thomas and Eva May Vance Smith. On Feb. 26, 1941, he married Glenda M. Branham, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he retired from DANA Corp. in 1982 after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel and Syracuse Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Also surviving are two sons, Grover N. Frank Jr. (and spouse Judy Lynn) Smith, Cleveland, S.C., and Gary Thomas (and spouse Karen) Smith, Archebold, Ohio; a brother, Noland A. Smith, Hemet, Calif.; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel with Pastors Harlan Steffen and Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Topeka, with military honors.
