Warsaw Community Schools will host a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday at the current Lincoln Elementary site to signal the start of construction of a project approved by voters in May.
According to a Warsaw Community Schools press release, the projects include major renovations and additions to Washington Elementary School and Edgewood Middle School and building an entirely new Lincoln Elementary School.
The design-build technical review committee for the project chose the Performance Services design build team at a meeting Oct. 16.
Design partners include Kovert Hawkins Architects; Veridus Group; Lynch, Harrison and Brumleve; and Primary Engineering and Technology Dynamics.
Dr. David Hoffert, WCS superintendent, is quoted in the press release as saying, “Warsaw Community Schools is excited to start the construction on the new Lincoln Elementary. Schools are a cornerstone of our local community. The construction of Lincoln Elementary will provide a safe and appropriate learning environment. We are grateful to our local community for allowing this opportunity to assist in moving our schools and community forward.”
Tim Thoman, Performance Services president, said, “The Performance Services Design-Build Team is grateful for being selected for this project and have thoroughly enjoyed the spirit of collaboration with our design team and the Warsaw team.
“Even though we only have 18 months to complete $39 million in construction work, we have a solid plan and are fully committed to making this happen. We will meet the schedule and also deliver a high-performing building in terms of energy efficiency and optimal learning environments. We clearly understand how important a highly successful project is to Warsaw Community Schools.”
