A groundbreaking ceremony was Tuesday for Banner Medical in Warsaw.
The $6.3 million state-of-the-art material processing facility will be built at the corner of Silveus and Polk Drives in the Warsaw Technology Park.
The facility will serve local and regional contract manufacturers and medical devices makers by providing medical grade materials and services associated with the manufacture of implantable products and instruments used in the orthopedic, spine and dental industries, according to Mark Redding, Banner Medical president and chief executive officer, who attended the ceremony.
It is scheduled to open in April, according to Redding.
“I congratulate Mayor (Joe) Thallemer and the other civic leaders who made the Warsaw Tech Park a reality. We believe it is the premier location for Banner Medical and our future growth. The early enthusiasm of our medical device customers is already validating our decision to invest heavily in the Warsaw area and specifically this location,” he said.
Redding said the business is very pleased to be partnering locally with Robinson Construction.
“We are grateful for the assistance we have received from George Robertson at (Kosciusko Economic Development Corp.) and David Behr at (Indiana Economic Development Corp.). Lastly, we very much appreciate the warm welcome we have received from so many people in the Warsaw community,” he continued.
Also in attendance were Dan Stoettner, Banner Medical executive vice president and chief operating officer; Rocky Rockwell, Banner Medical general manager; Thallemer; Dan Robinson, Robinson Construction president and owner; and Robertson.
Thallemer welcomed Banner Medical to Warsaw, saying, “You are our anchor tenant in our newly expanded Warsaw tech park. Your facility will allow you to expand your bar processing capacity and develop new processes.”
On July 20, Warsaw City Council approved tax abatements on real and personal property for Banner Medical to be located in the Warsaw Technology Park. West Hill Development LLC requested the city grant real property tax abatements on a new 44,3115-square-foot industrial building at 1295 Polk Drive within the city’s technology park.
Banner expects to hire 76 employees over the next five years. Banner expects to spend over $4.1 million on new equipment.
