Grossnickle Foundation Supports Heartline Pregnancy Center With GrantThe Grossnickle Foundation, a donor-advised fund at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, recently awarded a $1,000 grant to Heartline Pregnancy Center.

Heartline Pregnancy Center provides free and confidential pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI/STD testing vouchers and access to nurses and client advocates to assist and answer questions, according to a news release from the Foundation. Each year, there are 6.6 million pregnancies in the United States, almost half of which are unplanned. Forty-one percent of unplanned pregnancies happen even with the use of contraception. Additionally, Heartline Pregnancy Center provides prenatal and parenting classes, as well as a fatherhood mentoring program.

The support offered by Heartline Pregnancy Center helps individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford it, which can make the difference to someone who may not have anyone else to turn to for help, the release states. Grants, like the one from the Grossnickle Foundation, help Heartline Pregnancy Center provide these services.

The Grossnickle Foundation was established with funds from Drs. Paul, Steve and Bruce Grossnickle. The doctors believed in giving back to not only the communities that have supported them, but also to engage their employees, according to the release. Grossnickle Eye Center employees recommend how the grants from the Grossnickle Foundation are awarded. All employees are encouraged to submit requests for funding of a local nonprofit organization or a nonprofit supporting an ophthalmology-related area.

Since 1968, Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc. has helped donors achieve their charitable dreams. The Community Foundation is a public charity that grants about $3 million annually in the areas of education, health, arts and culture, recreation, civic projects, environment and human services.
