RUSSELL SPRINGS, Ky. – Gregory Earl Rex, 60, Russell Springs, Ky., passed away April 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born Aug. 24, 1953, in Ligonier to Richard Ralph and Earlis Mowat Rex. He was married to Linda Sharon Slone Rex, who survives. He graduated from West Noble in 1974, where he played football for four years as an offensive guard and defensive, and wrestled four years at 165 pounds. He retired from the Union of Operating Engineers Local 103. He will always be remembered by his wife; his three daughters: Brandie (and spouse Larry) Morrow, Pierceton; Heather Rex, Ligonier; and Lacy (and spouse Steven) Elmer, Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, April Golden, Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; his brother, Richard (and spouse Donna) Rex; numerous aunts, cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Clint Hursey. Services were held Saturday at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel. Burial was in the Slone Family Cemetery, Pinetop, Ky. A memorial service to commemorate his life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Church, 9564 E. 1050, Cromwell. Bringing a dish and sharing a story is not required, but encouraged.
