Greenway Parking

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

My friend and I just took a walk on the Greenway Trail that starts on Roy Street on the back side of Winona Lake and goes to the park in Winona. It was a beautiful day and a great place to walk. My question is, where are we supposed to park?

When I returned to my car there was a parking ticket on my windshield. Thank you to the Winona Lake officer, it was only a warning ticket. There were other cars parked along Roy Street, they also had tickets.

I know he was only doing his job, and though I didn't see it before, there is a no parking sign a block or so farther down the street.

We live on the south side of town and this is a close place to walk safely without having to drive all the way to Winona Lake and start from that end.

There appears to be enough area on Roy Street to create a small parking lot, or allow cars to park on the shoulder of the road was we did. The street does not seem that busy. I though the idea of the Greenway was to be used in an effort to become healthier?
