Do we citizens of our United States agree that our country, our life and our law is the greatest in the world? I do!
Who and what made it the best? The Christian religion!
Dr. Karl Barth, noted theologian from Switzerland when visiting and teaching in our country, was asked by a student, "What is the greatest truth that ever crossed your mind?" Expecting some great, profound, deep, complicated answer, Dr. Barth lifted his great shaggy gray head and looked at the student and said, "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so."
This visiting scholar-teacher of men and women preparing to be teachers and preachers in pulpits in this great country, spoke the most profound yet simple truth that pinpoints the foundation and the strength of our land. He voiced that heartfelt conviction of the people in villages, cities and states in our United States of America.
By this and for this the pilgrims came. The Statue of Liberty ever beckons the people of countries of the world to come. They have and are still accepting the invitation, in great hope and numbers.
Our country has heard the pounding of the shoe of Nikita Kruschev, the Russian dictator. He said that he would bury us with Communism. Our Christianity prevailed.
Presently, we hold our breath as we see the several inner turmoils happening here. These are more dangerous because they are internal and could bring decay.
Are the answers spoken and acted upon by our president, who has traveled the countries of the world, and to our own cities, small and large, and states with his answers to problems? Are we not dismayed and embarrassed by his attempts to appease and correct our image abroad and his extravagance with money solutions at home?
He seems not to need the empowerment and discernment that God can give him in times like these. A majority of our countries founders and presidents exhibited and spoke their dependence upon Almighty God, and openly affirmed their Christian faith.
Our President needn't apologize to the countries of the world whom we have helped and continue to help with a variety of measures and money time and again. He needn't kiss Hugo Chavez on the cheek. Nor need he bow to the king of Arabia; or tell Mexico that their violence is our fault. He shouldn't hesitate to waterboard Muslim soldiers for information to stop terrorism. They didn't die from the water. Furthermore, he has and will bring Muslim soldiers from Gitmo to mainland USA. So sorry to those neighborhoods.
There are 20 or more disappointing matters and orders our president has given that reveal a lack of Christian determination and foresight.
Do you really think President Obama is seeking the help of God in prayer? God has help available to him. God has the right way and directions. He has proven that in the love and help He has given to "those who call upon Him, and supremely in giving to us Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life."
You were so right, Prof. Barth, "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so." Let us pray for our president. He needs Jesus and His help very much!
