Great Summer Concert

If you were not at the program that the Warsaw Park has every Friday night during the summer this last Aug. 10, you missed out on the very BEST one of the summer ... so said an attendee to the leader, Kevin Piekarski, with his Fort Wayne quartet, after they had performed!  And we had plush front row seats at Middle School because of the weather.

I've gotta admit that I'm an eighty-seven year old groupie of Kevin's group.

It started a few years ago when I attended a Sunday afternoon performance his Trio gave at the gazebo in South Whitley.  This was sponsored, I believe, by their library.  I was enthralled; told them so and vowed that I'd just have to do something to have them at Pierceton where I now live.   And so I did with having them perform at several of the WineTasting/Jazz events here in Pierceon.  Always very well-received.

Now they had FOUR instrumentalists:  Kevin on his bass, the keyboardist, the drummer and a fellow on his zyllaphonelike (sp?) one.  The fellow on keyboard is so great I cannot compliment him enough.  He and Kevin worked their magical fingers to the nth.  They made symphonylike jazz!

Let's hope they are booked for next summer as well.

(Oh, it should be said that when weather is inclement, as it was, programs are to be at a different venue than Central Park.  The sign there is good, but phone numbers listed in the p.r. to be able to call to check on the situation sometime in the afternoon would help.  Radio, perhaps, but their number?)
