Grant To Library Allows Digital Microfilm Scanning

Posted

Warsaw Community Public Library is the recipient of a $14,000 grant from the Esther Pfleiderer Charitable Trust.

The trust is administered by 1st Source Bank.

The money will be used to purchase a digital microfilm scanner and digital copies of Census materials for Kosciusko and several surrounding counties.

The scanner will enable library staff and volunteers to convert filmed historical materials to a digital format.

With cooperation from Dr. Dave McGuire, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, all of the Warsaw High School yearbooks from 1912 through 2002 are now available in digital format.

A future project will be digitizing early versions of the Times-Union.

The Pfleiderer Charitable Trust was established by Esther Pfleiderer to assist charitable organizations in Kosciusko County in improving the quality of life in the County.
