Ed Rock, Kosciusko County emergency management director, is applying for another grant on behalf of the county.
The Kosciusko County commissioners gave their approval Tuesday for the grant application.
The grant totals up to $160,000 for the county's 800-megahertz frequency radio program and related equipment, if approved.
Ron Truex, middle district commissioner, asked if there were any matching funds required. Rock said there were not, it is a 100 percent grant. If Kosciusko County doesn't take the grant money, it will just go someplace else.
"It is going to get spent," he said.
A public meeting on the Western Route Project will be held April 1 in the Justice Building meeting room at 7 p.m., Kosciusko County Highway Superintendent and Engineer Rob Ladson reminded the commissioners. At that meeting, the county's hired engineers, The Troyer Group, will present their recommendation for the best alternative route for the project.
However, Ladson said he then needed the commissioners to approve a date when they will hear The Troyer Group's presentation and vote on whether or not to accept the recommendation. The commissioners approved June 29 as the date.
In other business, the county commissioners:
Tabled the Mediacom franchise agreement until county auditor Sue Ann Mitchell can compare it to the previous agreement and note any changes, and until county attorney Mike Miner can review it.
Signed the certificate of appointment for Bell Memorial Library for Dick Webb's appointment to the board.
Signed a resolution appointing Richard Long as the interim director for Area 1 for Barbee Lake Conservancy District.
Voted not to purchase flower baskets to hang on the light poles around the county courthouse for Warsaw's sesquicentennial. Decorations usually are kept within the courthouse lawn.
Heard from county administrator Ron Robinson that the county should be in compliance with the HIPPA laws by April 13. Training for all employees on the regulations will be April 7.
Approved for Robinson to sign contracts on behalf of the county regarding pagers, liability insurance and weather warning equipment that have been in negotiations. He must report back to the commissioners on those contracts at the next meeting.
Commissioners are Brad Jackson, northern district; Ron Truex, middle district; and Avis Gunter, southern district. They meet every other week in the county courthouse, Warsaw, at 9 a.m.
