Grace To Welcome Brenda Gerber Vincent, VP Of Greater Fort Wayne Inc.WINONA LAKE – Brenda Gerber Vincent will be the keynote speaker at Grace College’s Career Week Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 31 in the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, 610 Wooster Road, Winona Lake.

Career Week Chapel is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to bring Brenda Gerber Vincent to Grace College to share her compelling career story and life journey with our students. Her leadership and passion for the community are inspiring. She is known for pursuing high-impact projects and has a history of exceeding goals and going beyond what is required of her. That is the kind of professional we aim to develop,” said Denise Terry, director of the Center for Career Connections at Grace.

Vincent began as the vice president of community and corporate impact at Greater Fort Wayne Inc. in January 2019. Her role takes on projects linked with community and corporate partnerships, signature programs and advocacy efforts.

Former Indiana Gov. Mike Pence appointed Vincent as a commissioner for the Indiana bicentennial celebration in 2015. “Brenda Gerber Vincent has a true servant’s heart and a passion for Indiana,” said Pence.

As commissioner, Vincent oversaw projects such as Hoosier Homecoming and Ignite the Future. Despite their goal of 200 projects, the committee endorsed 1,500 projects, exceeding the original expectation. Vincent also served as chief of staff for Indiana’s former first lady, Karen Pence, in 2013.

Vincent won the 2018 Indiana Commission on Women’s “Heart of Indiana – Torchbearer Award” and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2016, Indiana’s highest civilian honor. She is a fourth-generation Fort Wayne native and serves on the nonprofit organization Carriage House board of directors, which she co-founded in 1997. Through this organization, Vincent helps people recover from mental illness. She also serves on the Parkview Regional Medical Center board of directors, as well as the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series board of governors.

Vincent’s appearance will take place during Career Week, a week organized annually by the Center for Career Connections at Grace College to equip students with information and perspectives to guide the trajectory of their education. Other Career Week events include Alumni Perspectives, sessions with alumni from a variety of disciplines and fields who will present about their career journeys, and a Career Fair which will include employers from around the region to interact with students and share about opportunities in their companies and organizations.

Businesses interested in employing Grace graduates are invited to be a part of Grace’s Career Fair. The fair will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
