Grace Tennis Team Lands First CommitmentWINONA LAKE — The Grace College women’s tennis team has picked up its first  commitment for next year in Gabrielle Lawrence.
Lawrence is a graduate of Worthington Christian High School where she was a four-year varsity member.
The 5-foot-5 player amassed a career record of 70-19 during her time at Worthington Christian.
“I chose Grace College because I love the genuine people and the opportunity to grow in my faith,” Lawrence said. “I’m excited to form deep bonds of friendship on the team and help the team go far in tournaments.”
Lawrence served as her high school team’s co-captain and helped pace WC to a 10-4 regular season record as a senior.
She also advanced to Ohio’s district tournament in doubles competition during her career.
“Gabrielle is going to give us immediate help in our doubles lineup,” Grace head tennis coach Larry Schuh said. “I also see her contributing as a singles player in the future. She is an upstanding young lady who I know is going to be a leader on our team. It really will be a blessing to have her as a part of the Grace tennis family.”
Lawrence, who is the daughter of Mark and Dana Lawrence, ranks in the top 10 percent of her class in GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.
She is set to major in business and marketing at Grace.
