WINONA LAKE – Grace College will welcome Louis Zamperini, former Olympian, World War II veteran, prisoner of war and American hero to campus to address the student body.
On Sept. 21, 94-year-old Zamperini will speak in the Freshman Foundations class. Zamperini will then address the student body in chapel at 10:30 a.m. in the Orthopaedic Capital Center on the Grace College campus. This chapel will be open to the public.
Each year the incoming freshman class is given a summer reading assignment. This book is then discussed in their Freshman Foundations class, and, when possible, the author or the subject of the book is brought to the campus. “Unbroken” was the assigned reading for summer 2011. Written by No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Laura Hillenbrand, “Unbroken” is the account of Louis Zamperini’s remarkable life story.
Today, Louis Zamperini is a motivational and inspirational speaker, traveling the world telling his story.
