Grace College To Host First Engineering Camp For Middle Schoolers

Posted
Grace College will have its inaugural engineering camp for middle school students this summer.

The day camp, created by Dr. Fred Wentorf, chair of the Grace College Engineering Department, is designed to introduce students to engineering  through hands-on application by designing and racing dragsters.

Students will create dragsters using computer-aided design and test their design by racing in and out of a wind tunnel.

Students will be exposed to aerodynamics, 3D painting and CAD during the camp.

“We’re very excited to offer the first-of-its-kind engineering camp to local students this summer,” said Wentorf.  “The camp is designed to spark students’ interest in STEM – and engineering specifically – through fun, hands-on learning with CO2 drag racing.”

The camp will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15-19. Cost of $350 per student will include lunch and engineering supplies. Need-based scholarships are available.

Space is limited and registration is required.  To register, visit www.grace.edu/GraceEngineeringCamp/.
