WINONA LAKE — One of the top players in the history of girls soccer at Warsaw Community High School has decided to continue her playing career at Grace College.
Junior Meredith Hollar has signed her letter of intent to join the Grace College Lady Lancers, becoming the first in Grace’s class of 2013.
During her sophomore season at Warsaw in 2010, Meredith set multiple school records including: most goals scored in a game (5), most goals scored in a season (28) and most points scored in a season (61).
She was named All-Northern Lakes Conference and team MVP as a result.
Meredith also notched 14 goals as a freshman.
“After spending a weekend at Grace, I knew this is where God wanted me to be,” Hollar said. “I fell in love with the girls on the team and all the coaches. Grace is the perfect fit for me because I can grow both spiritually and intellectually while playing the sport I love. I am so excited to be a part of a team full of character that competes at a high level while glorifying God.”
Hollar also competes for the Fort Wayne Fever club team where she has been involved with the Olympic Development Program (ODP). She was a member of the Indiana ODP team from 2007-09 and was selected for the 2011 Super Y League (SYL) ODP National Camp.
“I am truly stoked to have Meredith join the Grace women’s soccer family,” Grace head coach Michael Voss. “She is a great fit with her outstanding Christian character and baller attitude. She brings a passion for seeing Christ glorified with her whole life and will be an absolute barrel of monkeys to try to contain. Meredith is passionate about possession attacking futbol, and I am excited to see her future unfold here at Grace.”
Outside of the field of athletics, Hollar is an active member of the Tiger Student Athletic Board, the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also involved in peer tutoring and her church’s youth group.
Hollar, who is the daughter of Steve and Jennifer Hollar, plans to study to become a physical therapist during her time at Grace.
