Grace College Community Band Presents Fall Concert

Posted
WINONA LAKE - On Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m., the Grace College Community Band will present its fall concert.

The concert will be at Rodeheaver Auditorium, Winona Lake. The concert band consists of more than 60 musicians who come from both the student body of Grace College, accomplished community musicians and professionals. The program is titled "Celebrate America," and features music that will take the audience on a journey that paints a musical portrait of this great country, according to conductor Martin Becker.

The program features music written by seven of today's most talented composers.

The concert will begin with Robert Foster's musical celebration of a great nation. The composition "Celebrate America" was written in the turbulent times following Sept. 11, 2001. It is an effort to reflect on the good things about America, and to present a portrait of some of the beauty, diversity, resilience and determination of a country in which people cherish their independence and freedom.

The medley will feature some of America's best-known and most-sung patriotic songs. Becker invites all veterans and families who have men and women currently serving in the armed services to attend and be recognized.

The program also will feature compositions that will take the audience on a musical trip from Maine to Oregon; to the Grand Canyon, Colorado "Rockies," Yosemite, Manhattan and even a special arrangement of "Back Home Again in Indiana."

The concert is free and there are no reserved seats. Doors open at 7 p.m.
