Grace Celebrates Manahan

WINONA LAKE – Grace College and Theological Seminary celebrated Dr. Ronald E. Manahan’s 20 years of service as president at Grace College Sunday night during a “Celebration of Service” ceremony.
Manahan is concluding his time as president after Grace College’s commencement May 11.
Around 500 people were in attendance as music, humor and stories were shared detailing the many ways in which Manahan has impacted the community and Grace College.
Anna Juarez, a 2007 graduate of Grace College, told those in attendance that Manahan is an “excellent leader because he inspires and allows God to guide his life.”
Manahan oversaw various changes throughout his tenure as president at Grace College, including the purchasing of Mount Memorial and the restoration of Westminster Hall.
Dr. Bill Katip, incoming Grace College president, stated that it was “Dr. Manahan’s commitment to connecting to the community that really impacted his ability to accomplish so much here at Grace.”
The construction of the Orthopedic Capital Center in 2007 is a prime example of this commitment.
Manahan also was essential in helping Grace achieve the distinction of being one of the few colleges nationally that offer the three-year degree program for all majors.
“We must continue to innovate, to change, and to continually do God’s work,” stated Manahan.
One of the things Manahan will miss is being around the students, but he does plan on remaining active at Grace College. He has accepted the position of senior advisor to the president for the 2013-14 school year while Katip adjusts to his new position.
“I hope one of the things I can learn and continue to embrace from Dr. Manahan is the ability to listen. He is such a great listener,” stated Katip.
