WINONA LAKE - Grace College participated in its annual Taste of the World celebration as a part of last week's Conference on Mission.
Taste of the World allowed students and community members to experience a variety of world cuisines at Grace's Alpha Dining commons.
Each evening, Alpha Dining served foods unique to a particular world culture. Students and community members gathered for African cuisine on Monday, Asian cuisine on Tuesday, European cuisine on Wednesday and Latin American cuisine on Thursday. Monday evening, Grace hosted live music by the Three Rivers Jembe Ensemble. Students were able to gain a better appreciation for other cultures through cuisine, music and photos from the featured cultures.
Grace's cultural liaison, Juan Carlos Tellez, said one of the most interesting parts of this year's event was how it brought different people and teams together."Having collaboration between Sodexo, the chapel commission and MuKappa among others, strengthens the emphasis on cultural awareness Grace College has been promoting," he said.
The next Taste of the World Celebration will take place in fall 2011.
