WINONA LAKE - Faculty Exhibit 2010, featuring recent work by Grace College Art Department faculty in their areas of expertise, will be on display Jan. 25 through Feb. 12 at the Mount Memorial Art Gallery on the Grace campus.
A reception to meet the artists will be held Jan. 29 from 8 to 10 p.m., including the new assistant professor and Art Department Chair Kim M. Reiff.Reiff comes to Grace from a professional career in graphic design, print production and marketing communications management.
Conceptually exploring the tapestry of family, her current work features semi-sculpted forms using acrylic paint, canvas and wire. A native of Indiana, she holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Indiana University, a master's degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a master's degree in visual arts from Azusa Pacific University, California.
Associate professor Timothy W. Young exhibits recent works in oil painting encountering visual transitions between contemporary realism and expressionism. Among these transitional pieces will be the unveiling of his "Alas Babylon."
Young has been on faculty since 1997 and serves as director of the Mount Memorial Art Gallery. He received his bachelor's degree in fine arts from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree in fine arts from Miami University, Ohio.
Associate professor Gary Nieter shares his dual talents of potter and photographer for this show. Stoneware, raku, and pit-fired pottery made by hand-building and wheel-throwing methods are included. His prints feature the photojournalistic style frequently seen in his work as photographer for the Times-Union newspaper. A faculty member since 1979, he earned his bachelor's degree from Grace and his master's degree from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.
The Mount Memorial Art Gallery is located on the main floor of Mount Memorial Hall on the Grace College Campus, between Kings Highway and College Avenue, and is handicapped accessible. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and Tuesday and Thursday evenings by appointment. Admission is free. Much of the artwork will be for sale.
