Kosciusko County Sheriff William "Rocky" Goshert announced Wednesday that he will seek re-election.
The primary is May 4, and the general election is Nov. 2.
Goshert served 21 years with the Indiana State Police before joining the sheriff's department in 2001. He was elected sheriff in 2006.Goshert, 53, is a 1975 Warsaw Community High School graduate, and earned a business degree in 1979 from Hanover College.
He cites his desire to use his education and experience to continue to serve the public in his current capacity.
Goshert feels the future challenges for the sheriff's department will be dealing with the increasing demands for services in the county and the dwindling budgets.
Last year, Goshert worked with the county council to cut nearly $300,000 from the sheriff's department budget to avoid a 7-percent decrease in employees salaries and cutting services.
Goshert feels it has been an honor to serve the people of Kosciusko County for the last four years, and to serve with the dedicated men and women of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
Goshert lives in Warsaw with his wife Joy, and has three children, Drake, who lives in the Leesburg area; Taylor, a freshman at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion; and Cody, a freshman at Indiana University, Bloomington.
