A Goshen man is wanted after he left the Kosciusko County Jail Saturday night.
Israel Zamora, 22, formerly of 602 E. Jefferson St., Goshen, escaped from KCJ after allegedly "being inadvertently released by a jailer," according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
Zamora was allegedly let out of the jail to take trash to an outside dumpster.
He had been assigned to be an inside, lock-down maintenance trustee, meaning he was allowed to do light cleaning in areas of the jail.
Trustees, whether allowed inside or out, wear the same color jumpsuit.
After leaving the jail, Zamora allegedly removed his green trustee jumpsuit and fled on foot.
Inmates often wear clothing under the jumpsuits.
Zamora is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Police believe Zamora headed back to the Goshen area, and have checked 10 different locations in the Goshen area along with locations in Kosciusko County since Zamora's escape.
An investigation is currently ongoing at KCSD that includes interviews with jailers and the review of phone conversations Zamora had while in the jail.
Disciplinary action for the jail staff may come this week from KCSD Sheriff Rocky Goshert.
Zamora was being jailed at KCJ on a charge of armed robbery. Zamora is one of three men suspected of robbing a series of stores in Northern Indiana and Michigan, including La Joyita, Warsaw.
Warsaw Police Department was in charge of Zamora's criminal case.
The county's drug task force has been working with Elkhart County police since Zamora's escape to canvas areas in Elkhart County.
