Goshen Health Adjusts Visitor Restrictions

Posted
GOSHEN – Goshen Health adjusted visitor restrictions Wednesday, effective immediately. One of the main changes is that some visitors are now permitted for non-COVID-19 patients in the hospital.

Requirements include that all patients and visitors will be screened, wearing a mask at all facilities is required and visitors must be 18 years or older and healthy to visit.

Visitors are limited for non-COVID-19 patients and the following guidelines will be implemented:

Clergy are allowed to visit.

Inpatients may have two visitors each day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Those visitors must proceed directly to the patient’s room and exit promptly after the visit to minimize time in other areas of the hospital. Emergency room patients may have one visitor during their stay, and the same goes for outpatient surgery patients.

For patients in The Birthplace, one support person is allowed for the entire stay, and if requested, one approved Doula. In the instance of a patient less than 18 years old giving birth, one parent or guardian and the father of the baby will be allowed visitation.

For patients in the Goshen Center for Cancer Care, one pre-arranged visitor that is approved by a physician can attend. Outpatient clinic patients are able to have one visitor during an appointment and two visitors for pediatric patients.

No visitors will be allowed for COVID-19 patients and those pending test results. Video or telephone communication may be utilized. Limited exceptions will be determined by the doctor and made for those patients in The Birthplace and those who are nearing the end of their life.

Additionally, no overnight visitors will be permitted in the hospital except for obstetrics and pediatrics. Family members and additional visitors should not gather inside the hospital, but outside picnic tables may be utilized. Public restrooms are not available to guests outside of the visiting policy. Visitors may bring in food and are responsible for delivering it to the patient.
