GOP’s Ragan Will Appoint Etna ClerkThe Etna Green town clerk-treasurer vacancy will be filled at noon Dec. 21, but there will be no traditional caucus vote.
That’s because there is only one precinct committee person available to participate in a caucus. Since a caucus requires at least two votes, the choice reverts to Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan, who announced details Wednesday.
The process follows state law, according to Ragan.
The Republican party is accepting letters of interest, formally known as declarations of candidacy, until noon Dec. 18, Ragan said in a news release.
Eligible applicants must live in the town of Etna Green, be a Republican in good standing with the party, and must not have a felony in their history.
The vacancy is the result of the resignation by clerk-treasurer Laura Baker, who will remain on the job until Dec. 31.
Baker served in her role with the town for 23 years and has accepted a new job with Triton School Corp.
“We would like to thank Laura Baker for her many years of service to the citizens of Etna Green, and we wish her well in her future endeavors,” Ragan said in the news release.
Declarations of candidacy, and statements of economic interests, are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be notarized and filed with Ragan.
The forms can be sent to Ragan at 1458 E. 75 N, Warsaw, IN 46582. He can be contacted at 574-265-1430. His email is mragan@sprintmail.com.
