GOP Cancels Spring Fish Fry Due To COVID-19Due to the continued uncertainty regarding the coronavirus pandemic, the Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee unanimously agreed Monday to cancel the spring fish fry scheduled for May 6.
“It was a difficult decision that we have labored over for several weeks,” according to a news release from Party Chair Mike Ragan Monday night. “Our first concerns are the health precautions and protection of our guests, candidates and elected officials. A political fundraiser when so many are having challenges with this pandemic seems inappropriate at this time, as well.”
Additionally, complying with current mandates of groups not exceeding 10 people would be a problem for the event, the release states. Even if Governor Eric Holcomb were to remove current restrictions, “we have hit a time challenge to prepare for this significant event.”
However, the Kosciusko Republican Party is still hoping to have its Lincoln Day Dinner before the June 2 primary election.
“We are awaiting news from the governor’s office regarding that event. We will keep you posted. Thank you for your understanding,” the release concludes.
