Goodwill In Need Of Donations

Posted
Don't wait until spring to clean out those closets and donate unused clothing to the Goodwill.

The thrift store is in need of donations now.

Janice Blosser, manager of the Goodwill store on Commerce Drive, Warsaw, said Goodwill is "just really low on resale" items all over. Since the organization ran some advertisements stating they need donated goods, drop-offs have increased, but are still down. She said she did not know specifically why Goodwill was about 80 percent down on items.

"Any kind of clothing, we recycle," she said. The store also takes dishes and housewares, as well as furniture, that is in good condition. They can not take refrigerators or stoves.

If Goodwill receives items they can not use, they then have to pay to dispose of those items.

Boats and cars also are accepted. To donate a vehicle, call the South Bend Goodwill office at 574-472-7388, or toll free at 866-649-7388, and arrangements will be made to pick it up.

Goodwill also accepts monetary donations.

Money from items sold supports Goodwill's effort to help handicapped people get jobs, as well as pay Goodwill's own employees and bills.

Donated items can be dropped off at the drop-off box at the Commerce Drive store, or at the drive-through window.

Other locations in the area where drop-off boxes are located for donated items are: Martin's Super Store, 1530 E. Market St., Nappanee; Goodwill Rochester Store, 200 Rouch Place Drive, Rochester; First National Bank of Warsaw, 200 S. Main St., Leesburg; CTB Inc., intersection of Ind. 15 and Syracuse Road, Milford; Ace Hardware, 902 W. Thorne St., North Manchester; Christian Fellowship Church, 1002 Ind. 114E, North Manchester; Augsburger Store, Ind. 13, North Webster; Sanders Store, Ind. 13, Pierceton; Family Dollar, 203 E. Pickwick Road, Syracuse; Pamida, 1101 N. Indiana Ave., Syracuse; Owen's and Kroger stores, East Center Street, Marsh Supermarket, 500 S. Buffalo St., and M-K Laundromat, Ind. 15, all of Warsaw.

The first official day of spring is March 21, but you don't have to wait until then to start spring cleaning and help Goodwill Industries in the process.
