SYRACUSE – Goldie B. Pilcher, 102, a Syracuse resident since 1947, passed away Jan. 16, 2015, at Tender Care Center, Goshen.
She was born June 20, 1912, to John and Rose Parkhurst, Brewster, Neb. On July 20, 1941, in Denver, Co., she married Douglas G. Pilcher, who preceded her in death.
She taught at various elementary schools for 23 years and received a master’s degree in education from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne. After teaching, she worked alongside her husband in the family business in Syracuse, Pilcher’s Shoe Store, until Douglas’ death in 1980. Then she continued working with her son at Pilcher’s Shoes, North Webster, until her retirement at the age of 95. She was active within her church and had many hobbies including gardening, bowling and bingo.
Surviving are three daughters, Janice (and spouse Thomas) Perzanowski, Merritt Island, Fla., Linda (and spouse James) Wortinger, Sebring, Fla., and Patti (and spouse Stanley) Klotz, Bremen; a son, Robert (and spouse Dianne) Pilcher, Leesburg; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Ratliff, 100, and Helen Henning, 94. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, two in infancy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Randy Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
